My Writing Process

How do I write?

I do a bit of planning. But a lot of times, the story unfolds without me thinking about it too harshly.

Meaning….

I have a general idea of what I want or need to happen, but how I get there can surprise even me. I have point A and point B. But that road is wild!

This is the term panster. If you know anything about the writing community, you’ve heard pantser vs plotter. Panster’s fly by the seat of the pants. While Plotters… Well you guessed it. PLOT.

I like to think of myself as a hybrid of the two.

I have a very rough outline, and then I make it up as I go. I do have rules and character arcs that I hold to like laws. But it’s very much a creative process. I have found that when I try to control it too much; it becomes very overwhelming, and I lose the joy of creating. What do you think you’d be, a panster or a plotter?
